Generator Interconnection

BC Transmission Corporation (BCTC) was established to plan, operate and maintain BC's publicly owned transmission system. We are here to ensure fair and open access to the transmission system. If you are a generator owner or an independent power producer (IPP) who wishes to interconnect or modify your existing connection to the transmission system, we are your single point of contact.

BCTC's generator interconnection procedures are governed by our Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT). The OATT was approved by the BC Utilities Commission and has been effective since March 1, 2006.

Getting Connected

There are two interconnection procedures available:

There is also a Grandfathered Interconnection Process that is no longer available to new interconnection customers. This process is applicable only to proponents who submitted their interconnection requests prior to March 1, 2006. All requests submitted from March 1, 2006 onwards are subject to BCTC's OATT and must follow one of the interconnection processes outlined above.
