Interconnection customers must meet a set of general technical requirements in order to connect to the BC transmission system. In addition to the general requirements outlined here, customers must also meet the specific interconnection requirements that are identified during their interconnection studies.
General interconnection requirements are the same for all of the interconnection processes managed by BCTC's Standard Generator Interconnection Procedures (SGIP) and BC Hydro's Calls for Power. Please note that once an interconnection customer meets all BCTC's general and specific requirements, they must still obtain all required federal and provincial regulatory and environmental approvals before they will be issued a Standard Generator Interconnection Agreement.
A Note to Wind Generators
As interest in wind generation continues to grow, BCTC is working to examine the potential and impacts of intermittent wind generation sources on the transmission system. BCTC will propose reliable and economic solutions for integrating wind power and as new interconnection information is developed for wind generators, this site will be updated.
