The B.C. economy is growing rapidly and the demand for electricity is increasing.
The B.C. government has a forward-looking energy plan that outlines how BCTC, BC Hydro and other energy partners are working together to meet the goal of electricity self-sufficiency in ten years.
Our Capital Plan outlines BCTC’s capital investments for the next two years, and provides an outlook for potential investments through to 2017. Recognizing that it’s time to upgrade our transmission system, BCTC is investing $3.2 billion over 10 years to ensure a secure, reliable and connected transmission system.
The Capital Plan includes projects in communities across B.C. which will address the energy needs of the province’s flourishing populations and businesses, the need for greater system coordination and capacity, risk management, and replacement of aging or obsolete equipment.
By looking ahead and planning wisely for the future, BCTC is leading the way to ensure the province continues to benefit from one of the most advanced energy networks in the world.
