Vancouver Island is a vibrant, thriving region of our province. With a growing population and increased economic activity, Vancouver Island’s need for power is projected to increase by up to 45 per cent over the next twenty years. Changing electricity usage and aging equipment have put the existing transmission grid under pressure. While current needs are being met, BCTC must plan for the future. It’s time to upgrade the transmission system to meet the electricity needs of Vancouver Island. The Vancouver Island Reinforcement Project will increase electricity supply to the Island, ensuring a secure and continuous supply of electricity for its homes and businesses.
