The Central Vancouver Island Transmission Project will require a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the BCUC. BCTC filed for a CPCN from the BCUC on May 8, 2008.
Information on the regulatory application is available here.
The BCUC process looks at the need and justification for the Project, the alternatives, capital and operating costs, and a broad range of socio-economic and non-financial factors such as the rate impact of the proposed project and environmental and public interest issues. BCUC's New User’s Guide provides more information about their role and workings.
